Okay, here's the first update! I'm actually starting to love this blog idea! Anyway... I have talked with my barn manager and found housing for my 6 month stay!
I feel very confident my experience with WinStar is going to be nothing less than amazing, especially after talking with my barn manager. I am assuming I will be starting in the broodmare barn since that is the barn he manages, but we will soon see!
Since WinStar has no housing available for me, I was given phone numbers to both Trackside and Margaux Farms to contact about available houses they may have had and after two days of phone calls I have found out I will be living in a Margaux Farm house! Ironically, this is also another farm I was able to tour back in May and it was beautiful!
So here's the plan... I will be leaving next Wednesday for the great state of Kentucky with my parent(s)! We'll probably take our time getting down there and stop to sight see a bit, especially since we now don't need to take the truck and trailer due to "my house" being fully furnished! On Thursday I am to arrive to Margaux to pick up the keys to the house and move in! From my understanding it is a 3 bedroom 2 bath house and is full with myself and 2 other KEMI's, so hopefully I get to meet them upon move in!
On Friday all I need to do is pretty much finish settling and start adjusting to being without my sweet pup, Jax! There is a mandatory orientation at 6pm where I will meet my farm manager, all other current KEMI's and previous KEMI's to basically just get acclimated. I will have the weekend off to finish unpacking and getting settled and then on Monday morning I start a week long orientation that will consist of classes, farm tours, and other activities!
I still do not know the address to the house I will be in, but I will be sure to email and message that out to those of you who are interested once I get that. It isn't something I want to leave on the internet, although I'm pretty open about everything else (lol)!
I suppose that's all for now, but I'll be back soon!
With love,
Melissa & Jax
